PPS plastic supplierPPS or polyphenylene sulphide is made by the condensation of p- dichlorobenzene and sodium sulphide. The resulting polymer is more or less easy to process according to its molecular weight and degree of branching. While all PPS grades can be compression moulded, only linear materials can be injection moulded, and even these require barrel temperatures of up to 350oC. PPS has a UL-approved continuous use temperature of 190oC which is higher than that of some epoxies. PPS exhibits good resistance to solvents, chemicals and radiation, and is inherently flame resistant. The material has good dimensional stability but is difficult to pigment. It is notch sensitive and has relatively poor tracking resistance. Certain grades of PPS can be oxidatively crosslinked following moulding, giving them improved corrosion and creep resistance. Glass reinforced PPS grades combine excellent creep and fatigue resistance with outstanding high temperature and insultation resistance. There are no known solvents that will dissolve PPS (below 200oC) since it is quite resistant to organic chemicals orther than amines. Exposure to aldehydes, ketones, ethers and nitro compounds will cause a reduction in mechanical properties. Its resistance to inorganic materials is good, but is attacked by strong oxidising acids and oxidising agents, including sodium hypochlorite. PPS plastic supplier?PPS material is used for connectors, housings, coil formers and chemically resistant pump housings. It is also used widely for underbody components and as a coating for chemical and/or abrasion resistance. Glass reinforced PPS is widely used in applications demanding good corrosion and fatigue resistance. These include injection moulded bodies for gear pumps and centrifugal pumps as well as injection moulded impellers. PPS plastic properties PPS exhibits excellent heat resistance, as well as outstanding chemical resistance, high stiffness and good retention of mechanical properties at elevated temperatures. The major use for polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) is in electrical/ electronic parts and automotive parts. |
